Harringworth Viaduct

Couldn’t sleep one night a couple of weeks ago so had a quick day out. Although it was 5am when I got to my destination.

First saw this viaduct from around 12 miles away, spent an hour trying to find it but hadn’t appreciated just how darn big it is, so I’d been searching far too close to where I was when I saw it.

My professional camera struggled in the utter darkness – this was a 62 second exposure and then bumped another 3 stops in post:

Not sure I can recommend this as a holiday destination. You have to love bridges as much as me, and even in daylight you just can’t see all 82 arches at once. Which is why it’s so awesome.

Despite (and because of) the grain and noise, I’m rather happy with this photo. Click on it for full screen goodness.
